My Story
Shivangi was born and raised in Gorakhpur, U.P. She completed her primary and secondary education at Carmel Girls College, Gorakhpur. With a keen interest in understanding the use of biology to solve problems, she enrolled in the Biotechnology undergrad and master's programmes at Amity University's Lucknow and Birla Institute of Technology and Science's Pilani campuses, respectively. To get an exposure of research in translational settings, she worked as a Junior Research Fellow at THSTI, Faridabad. She studied the myogenic differentiation potential of mesenchymal stem cells derived from fetal umbilical cord which can have therapeutic implications. She then chose to pursue doctoral studies at the BSSE, IISc. She joined the Immunoengineering lab in February 2022 to study the mechanisms involved in the regulation of innate immune cell functions upon interaction with cargo-free, non-stimulatory particles. Besides research, Shivangi enjoys watching cricket matches. She is an animal lover and an active member of the Animal Welfare Society on campus. Shivangi also enjoys painting, and cooking in her leisure time.
