My Story
If you’re looking for someone who believes life is too short to stick to just one thing, meet Prem Singh Anant! Currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Bioengineering at IISc, he spends his days designing “smart” drug delivery systems, think of them as tiny, reliable couriers that make sure your medicines reach exactly where they’re needed, and sometimes even give your immune system a friendly pep talk. Prem grew up in Korba, Chhattisgarh, where he completed his schooling at MGM School Balco and a BTech in Biotechnology from NIT Raipur. Inspired by his undergraduate mentors and driven by a fascination for how materials interact with living systems, he joined Siddharth Jhunjhunwala’s lab at IISc to pursue doctoral studies in bioengineering. But Prem’s story doesn’t end at the lab bench. As a proud former NCC cadet, he credits his time in uniform for teaching him discipline, teamwork, and how to survive just about anything (even surprise experiments and endless lab meetings). On the field, he’s a whirlwind, sprinting, playing frisbee, basketball, and pretty much any sport you can name. If there’s a game, he’s already warming up. He is a true explorer at heart and has tried his hand at sketching, dancing, singing, and, of course, gaming. His motto: “There’s only one life, so why not try everything?” Off the field, you’ll find him trekking through wild trails and chasing waterfalls in places even Google Maps hasn’t discovered. When the sun sets, he turns into an enthusiastic stargazer, often lying under the open sky and mapping constellations or just making up his own. He loves sharing his passion for science and adventure with others, especially students. He’s always up for a chat, whether it’s about bioengineering, sports, gaming, or the mysteries of the night sky. If you’re looking for someone approachable, energetic, and always ready for the next adventure, Prem’s your guy. No lab coat, football boots, or telescope required, just bring your curiosity!
