My Story

Born and brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal, Debangi is a foodie Bangali who believes good science and good food are equally essential to keep the mind inspired. She completed her schooling at Agrasain Balika Siksha Sadan, Howrah, and went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology from the Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. As part of her undergraduate journey, she was a Summer Research Fellow at CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad. She has explored diverse terrains—from harnessing microbes for bioremediation of pollutants to pursuing a project on targeted drug delivery for cancer treatment, to trying to delve into the immune system’s role in cancer biology and other immunodiseases. When she’s not decoding cells, Debangi is creating, whether with brushes, craftwork, digital designs, or music that carries her voice. For her, science and art aren’t separate worlds—they both demand observation, storytelling, and the courage to look at things differently.
